I am a senior in college who will be off in the wonderful world of finance come July. While my resume passions include scrupulously watching economic indicators and reading the Wall Street Journal, I could just as happily spend all day reading blogs and sharing my passion for food, fashion, and fun. I chew too much gum and probably write too many lists. I know I don't know everything just yet, but TheGarnetLetter is the beginning of my little thank you note to the wonderful world!
worst first impressions
We’ve all heard the expression, “don’t judge a book by its cover,” but when it comes to first impressions, I am the absolute worst at reading people. I have a tendency to think I have a person all figured out, only to realize later that they are the complete opposite. It is part of our human nature to read certain signs and put new things into categories that we can associate them with, but I have been proven wrong with this so many times now that I am actively trying to work against the habit. In college it is especially easy to initially label someone as pretentious, scary, mean, or totally cool, only to find out that they are in fact the most down-to-earth, sweet-tastic, loving, or insane person. Moral of the story: give people a shot. They just might — and probably will — prove you wrong!
